Faith in Arts is a new series developed in collaboration with Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) and published by Atelier Éditions.

In collaboration with Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, Atelier Éditions has authored an ongoing, ever-evolving series of experimental chapbooks which explore the assorted concepts, thoughts, theologies and dialogues examined within the museum’s Faith in Arts project.

Faith in Arts is BMCM+AC’s multiple public dialogues, experiments, installations, and interviews examining art, spiritual practices and faith’s longstanding engagement with one another. Each conversation begins with an open-ended question: what does faith in arts mean to you?

Volume 4
The Quiet House: Stillness in Lake Eden

On a peaceful grove in Lake Eden, North Carolina, artist Alex Reed singlehandedly constructed a small stone house as a sanctuary for reflection, frequented by a number of Black Mountain College artists and poets. This collection chronicles the building’s unique history, with photographs by Robert Rauschenberg and Hazel Larsen Archer, works on paper by Ruth Asawa, text from writers Michael Beggs, John Colman Wood, and Ellen Mara De Wachter, and a meditative exercise from Yael Greenberg.
